How to use VERENOR

At a glance · 60-second start

• Four tabs at the bottom — Home (start here) · Clips (saved parts) · Library (your files) · You (recap and settings).
• On Home, tap Add media to bring files in, then tap an item to play it right away.
• The mini player at the bottom controls playback from any screen.
• Everything is offline and on your device — no sign-in, no account.

1 · Add music & video

• AirDrop: send a file from your Mac to iPhone, then choose Open in VERENOR.
• Finder: connect with a cable → select iPhone → drag songs onto VERENOR in the Files tab.
• Cloud: put files on iCloud, Dropbox, Drive or a NAS, then Home → Add media → Add from Files, or Connect Folder.
• Nearby: receive directly from someone next to you (see section 5).
• Your server / NAS: Home → Add media → Add by URL, and enter a WebDAV / HTTP / HLS address (optionally a login) for your own server or NAS.
• Wi-Fi from a browser: Home → Receive over Wi-Fi shows a web address. Open it in a browser on your PC or another phone (no app needed there) and upload files onto this device.

Supported: MP3 · M4A · AAC · WAV · AIFF · FLAC and video. Add from Files / Connect Folder play the originals in place to save space.

Tip: “Add from Files” and “Connect Folder” keep the originals where they are (in-place), so nothing is copied and no extra space is used. If a connected folder ever shows as disconnected, tap Reconnect.

2 · Play

• Tap an item to open the full player. Swipe down to close it.
• Swipe left/right to change track; drag the progress bar to jump anywhere.
• It keeps playing with the screen off — control it from the Lock Screen, Control Center and Dynamic Island.
• Video supports Picture in Picture, double-tap left/right for ±10s, subtitles (built-in and external SRT/VTT), and AirPlay.
• To change the sound, open You → settings (gear) → Playback · Personalize and turn on the equalizer (off by default).
• It remembers where you stopped and picks up from there next time. Queue and auto-next move you through a list; repeat-one loops a single track.
• Turn the phone sideways for full-screen video. In You → settings → List appearance you can set the row spacing (five steps) and the text size.

3 · Collect clips

• While playing, tap the scissors button (top right) to save the last 30 seconds as a clip.
• Clips gather in the Clips tab, sorted by recent use. Tap one to play just that part.
• Hold a clip to rename, jump to the source, or delete. Search at the top.
• A clip is just a marker on the original (a start and end point), not a copy — so it takes almost no space and never changes the source file.
• Fine-tune a clip: hold it → Edit range, then nudge the start/end by ±1s or ±0.1s and preview before saving.
• Send a clip to a video editor: hold it → Export to editor. It’s cut only at that moment into an m4a and handed to the share sheet — send it to CapCut, InShot, and more.

4 · Practice

• Hold a clip and choose Practice to loop that part endlessly.
• Use the speed slider for 0.25–2× (pitch stays the same). The screen stays on, and you can tap anywhere to play or pause.
• For audio you can also shift the key by semitones (±) without changing the speed, and ease the vocal down or the backing up — handy for singing along in your range.
• With video you can pinch to zoom and drag to move the frame, so you can watch a small detail (like finger positions) up close.

5 · Share with someone nearby

• Receive: Home → Nearby (or You → settings → Media → Nearby sharing) → Start receiving. You can set your display name.
• Send: Home → Nearby → Send, then pick what goes — saved clips or whole tracks — choose the person, and it transfers once they accept. (Holding a clip → Send to nearby device does the same.) A whole track is sent as the original file; your copy stays where it is.
• You get a friendly display name and color automatically (no real name). Tap the color circle to get a new one; it locks while you’re receiving.
• You can pick up to 5 items and up to 5 people at once; each person’s progress is shown, and you can retry only the ones that failed.

It goes directly between devices with no internet or server. Only send content you have the rights to. You can also use Send another way (AirDrop).

How it works: one side turns on Receive (that’s what makes them visible), and the other side sends. Both need VERENOR. For someone without the app, use Receive over Wi-Fi (section 1) instead.

6 · Hum a melody and keep it

Tap the microphone in the Clips tab — or hold the app icon on your Home Screen — and hum. Stop, name it, and it is saved as a recording.

It lands in your Library, not in Clips, because it is an audio file of its own. From there you can clip a section to practice, or send it to an editor.

Recording uses the microphone only on your device — nothing is uploaded. It is saved as a plain m4a file you can play or share anywhere.

7 · Recap & share

The recap card at the top of the You tab shows your total listening time and most-played track, ready to share. From the player you can share the current track as a card.

All of it — minutes, play counts, your top track — is calculated on your device from your own playback. Nothing is sent anywhere.

8 · Settings & personalize

Open You → settings (gear) to change the language (19, switched inside the app), the equalizer and list appearance, and to use Send feedback (email) and Support us.

Covers are drawn for you: songs without artwork get a unique, generated cover. Open a song’s info → Change cover to reroll the look, switch style or palette, or match a whole album.

For Nearby sharing you can choose where received files are saved (You tab → received-files folder). Feedback goes by plain email (no third-party SDK), and you can leave a tip to support us.

9 · FAQ & troubleshooting

• A file I added is not showing — pull the Library down to refresh, or add it again with Add from Files.
• The same file appears twice — this can happen if you connect the same folder twice. Reopen the app and it clears up.
• Nearby devices are not found — keep both phones close, turn on receiving on one, and allow the Local Network prompt the first time.
• Permissions — hum recording needs the microphone, Nearby sharing needs Local Network. Both are used only on your device.
• A remote address won’t play — plain http can be blocked by iOS; use an https address, and double-check the login for your server or NAS.
• A clip won’t open in my editor — clips are exported as m4a, which CapCut and InShot both read. If yours doesn’t list VERENOR, save the clip to Files first and import it from there.

10 · Privacy & safety

VERENOR plays only files you own. There are no accounts, ads, tracking or analytics, and your library, history and settings stay on your device. Nearby transfers never go through a server.
